Track and Field Athletes

Whether you are new to the sport or returning for another season of Athletics action, Athletics West offers a range of programs and events for participants of all ages, including:

  • Coles Little Athletics Australia Program
  • Senior Athletics, including Strive powered by Go for 2&5
  • Community Engagement & Participation

Registrations for the 2024-25 season open the first week of September.


Coles Little Athletics Australia Program

Athletics West offers the Coles Little Athletics program through Centres state-wide, which delivers weekly athletics activities for young people aged 5 to 16 years. Coles Little Athletics Program is a perfect entry point for kids aged 5 to 16. With Centres located throughout Perth and Regional WA, Little Athletics is the perfect way to improve your running technique for the AFL and Soccer Season, get a better leap for Netball or start your Green & Gold Athletics journey. 

Registration for Little Athletics Membership for Perth metropolitan and country centres open on the first week of September.  The Summer Track and Field Season runs from September through to March, with Cross Country and Road Walking events offered during winter at various venues around Perth. 



Senior Athletics, including Strive powered by Go For 2&5

Senior athletics is open to athletes over the age of 11. 

Throughout the summer season, Athletics West hosts a senior competition called Strive powered by Go for 2&5. The Strive Program offers weekly athletics competitions for Athletics West members throughout October – March, predominantly on Friday evenings at the WA Athletics Stadium (Mt Claremont) and including the WA State Track and Field Championships.

To be eligible to compete at Strive, athlete must register as a member with an affiliated senior club.  Athletics West offer a number of different membership options, including dual memberships for members currently registered with a Little Athletics Centre. 




Athletics West delivers several community engagement initiatives throughout Western Australia. These programs focus on increasing participation opportunities for those new to the sport or looking to try a new activity. Athletics West works with key sport industry and community stakeholders to roll out athletics programs in the metro, country and regional and remote locations across the state. Working with local community clubs, Athletics West is working to ensure that the sport of athletics is inclusive and welcoming to newcomers to the sport both young and old.
