JUNIOR INTERNATIONAL TOUR

The Junior International Tour returns in 2025, and will see the 30th Annual International Athletics Competition take place as a result of a long standing partnership between Athletics West, Singapore Sports School Council (SSSC) and Ministry of Education of Malaysia. It will be a two-day competition with a modified program of events and teams of 14 and 15 year olds entered from Western Australia, SSSC and MSSM. Athletes who medalled at the 2025 WA State Track and Field Championships or WA State Combined Event Championships are eligible for the team, as per the Selection & Eligibility criteria below.

Selection Event
The 2025 WA State Track and Field Championships powered by Go for 2&5 and 2024-25 WA State Combined Event Championships are the selection events for the WA International Athletics Team for the 30th Annual International Athletics Competition.
For the avoidance of doubt, there is no entry criteria to compete at the selection event and entry to the selection event is open to all Athletics West members born in 2013 or earlier.

Eligibility
Any athlete who will be considered for the 2025 Junior International Tour must:

  • Be a current Athletics West registered member (with the Little Athletics or Strive Program)
  • Year of Birth 2010 or Year of Birth 2011
  • Compete at the 2025 WA State Track and Field Championships in the age group and event they wish to be considered for selection in OR
  • Compete at the 2024-25 Season WA State Combined Events Championships

 

COMPETITION EVENT DISCIPLINES

The International Athletics Competition runs a modified program of events. Find the events offered at the competition below

Individual events per age group: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 1500m Race Walk Sprint Hurdles, Long Hurdles (200m Hurdles), High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw (For sprint hurdles, long hurdles and race walking, where multiple events are offered with different specifications, the gold medallist at Selection Event in each event will be automatically offered a position in the team. The offer will then be rolled down to the next best medallists).

Relays: 14 years 4x100m 15 years 4x100m 14 years 4x400m 15years 4x400m

 

 

TOUR INFORMATION

Tour dates: July School Holidays (week one)

Host city: To Be confirmed

Team Guide

  • April/ May- Invitations sent to athletes to attend information night for the Tour
  • May: $750 non-refundable deposit due to confirm position in the team
  • Early June: Final Payment due

Team training and team building sessions will also be provided as part of the compulsory travel package.

 

COST

Approximate costs for the trip will be $4,000-$4,500 depending on exchange rate and team size. This cost will include all activities leading up to the Tour, Tour costs (such as accommodation, ground transport, return flights, uniform, team activities), excluding personal spending money. 

 

EXPECTED ITINERARY 

The following is provided by way of example of what to expect, and further details will be confirmed in the team guide provided in invitation email.

  • Wednesday prior to competition: Depart Perth for city (PM)
  • Thursday prior to competition:  Team Activity (AM) TBC; Track Familiarisation at competition venue (PM)
  • Friday- Saturday: Competition Day 1 & 2
  • Sunday after competition: Team Activity 
  • Monday after competition: Team Activity (AM). Depart city for Perth (PM)
