SENIOR ATHLETICS

Senior Athletics is for athletes looking to take the next step from Little Athletics, as well as those discovering athletics for the first time. Whether you are competing for fun and fitness, chasing a personal best or working towards State and National competition, there are opportunities for athletes of all abilities and levels of experience.

Athletes can compete across a range of track and field events through the Athletics West Strive Program, as well as State Events and winter competitions. With options to join an affiliated Senior Club or compete as an Athletics West Independent, there are opportunities for athletes of all abilities and levels of experience.

The summer season runs from October to March, with Cross Country and Race Walking opportunities continuing throughout the winter season.

The Independent Membership offers athletes the opportunity to participate without joining a club. This membership offers flexibility for athletes who do not compete regularly or do not require the benefits offered by being a club member.

Independent Members must compete in the Athletics West Independent uniform. Items including a singlets or crop tops are available for purchase in our shop.

The Strive Program is Athletics West’s regular summer track and field competition series, held from October to March at the WA Athletics Stadium in Mt Claremont. Competitions are predominantly held on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons, with athletes able to select the meets and events they wish to enter throughout the season.

Each Strive competition offers a different program of track and field events, providing athletes with regular opportunities to compete and record official performances.

To compete in the Strive Program, athletes must hold an eligible Junior, Senior or Masters membership through an Athletics West-affiliated Club or as an Athletics West Independent.

To view competition dates, event programs and further information, visit the Strive Program page.

HOW DO I RENEW MY MEMBERSHIP

If you are an Athletics West member from the previous season, please renew your registration via the club link that you want to join on our registrations page. You must renew your registration before you can access your profile. Please ensure you have done this prior to resetting your password.

When completing your payment information, please check that the autofill hasn't changed the name of the joining member (i.e listing the parent name instead of the child).

WHERE CAN I FIND MY NATIONAL ID NUMBER?

You can find your National ID number by contacting the registrar at your club or by logging in to your membership portal.

It also appears on the email you received at the time of registration.

I AM A LITTLE ATHLETICS MEMBER, CAN I JOIN SENIOR ATHLETICS?

Yes, athletes aged 11 years and over by the 31st of December 2026, are able to register with a senior Club to take part in senior athletics.

Some Little Athletics Centres have affiliation with Senior Clubs to offer a Little Athletics Dual Membership. This membership is for Little Athletics members to provide them with an introductory membership to Senior Athletics. You must be a member of an Athletics West Little Athletics Centre to access this membership category.  We recommend talking to your Little Athletics Centre to find out which Senior Club they have an affiliation with.

WHEN CAN I REGISTER OR JOIN A CLUB?

Registrations for the 2026-27 season open Tuesday, 1st September 2026. The membership year runs from September 2026 until August 2027.

You can join a club at any point during the year.

HOW DO I MOVE OR TRANSFER CLUBS?

To move to another club, you must contact the club you wish to move to and request an Athlete Transfer. The athlete is responsible for paying any club membership fees to the new club.

If you wish to move clubs prior to a championship event you must request the transfer at least 2 weeks prior to the event.

Both clubs must approve the transfer request before it is authorised by Athletics West. Club administrators can contact Athletics West for assistance in completing a transfer in REVSport.
