2022 Athletics West Club and Centre Conference

The 2022 Athletics West Club and Centre Conference provides a unique opportunity to bring together paid and volunteer adminstrators from Little Athletics Centres and Senior Athletics Clubs away from the track. Providing a perfect platform to launch the 2022/23 summer athletics season, attendees will be able to choose from a variety of club development focused workshop style sessions. 

Featuring guest speakers including athlete preparation specialist and accredited sport scientist, Dr Sacha Fulton and financial management expert, Rod Lillis, the full day event will offer a comprehensive program ranging from sessions on finance, athlete pathways, volunteering and lots more. 

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

With four streams throughout the day, options include:

  • One Club/One Sport Development Plan Workshop - by application only 
  • The Athlete Pathway - Latest on the junior to senior athletics pathway 
  • Grants & Sponsorship - How best to position your Centre or Club
  • Engaging & Retaining Volunteers - Engage with peers, share ideas and set your club's volunteering goals for the season
  • Financial Management SnapshotImprove your clubs approach to financial management 
  • Bronze Level AccreditationAchieve this by attending designated sessions and gain incentives for your Centre or Club!
  • Para-Athlete EngagementA panel discussion sharing ways to identify and overcome barriers to engaging athletes with a disability at your club.  Panel includes Perth Children's Hospital Senior Phyiso, Dr Noula Gibson, Hayden Lewis (Rebound WA), and Necole Barlow, parent of Emily, a Little Athletics Para Athlete, and Mandy Mason , World Champion W50 4 x 100m, entrepreneur and mother of daughter with severe autism.

SPEAKER BIO - DR SACHA FULTON, Accredited Sport Scientist and Athlete Preparation Specialist 

As the owner of Peak Preparation and an Australian leader in Sports Science, Sacha has over 15 years’ experience in the field of scientific training and preparation techniques for individuals, organisations and schools. Sacha's purpose is to unlock possibility and cultivate greatness to achieve full potential and bring an elite mindset to enable high performance. Her powerful and exciting strategies help improve performance and achieve goals as she shares her knowledge and experience.

SPEAKER BIO - ROD LILLIS

Rod Lillis has worked in financial and senior management roles in the not-for-profit and commercial sector for more than 25 years and is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants.  He has held senior positions at the ABC, including CEO of the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, and at the Western Australian Cricket Association, where he was Business Affairs Manager and later CEO. After an extended period working overseas, Rod returned to Perth to concentrate on developing and operating Crunch Consulting, a boutique consultancy specialising in financial management for the not-for-profit and community sector. He aspires simply to still being around when the Dockers win the flag.
