Join us for an exciting FREE community event to kick off the 2022 North West Athletics Championships on Friday 9th September from 4:30 pm at Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre. Thanks to Buru Energy, Athletics West will be hosting a range of athletics activations to have a go at, including athlete, coach and officiating up-skilling sessions, and a free sausage sizzle for all attendees.
In conjunction with Athletics Australia and the AIS Share a Yarn program, the Athlete & Coach Clinics will be hosted by some of Australia's best, including:
- Caitlin Sargent-Jones (200/400m) - Caitlin is an Olympic finallist and one of Australia's top 400m athletes over the past decade. Caitlin's honors are highlighted with a 7th place in the 4x400m at the 2016 Rio Olympics and twice awarded the Australian 400m Champion, whilst also representing the green and gold at two Commonwealth Games, World Championships and World University Games. Her personal bests include 52.16 in the 400m, 11.71 in the 100m and 23.84 in the 200m
- Etienne Rousseau (Discus/Shot Put) - Making his Australian debut last month at the 2022 World Under 20 Championships in Cali, Columbia, Etienne has cemented himself as one of Australia's up and coming Discus stars. Etienne holds the WA State Under 14, Under 16, Under 20 Shot Put Records, and impressive personal bests in the Discus (1.75kg) of 58.29m and Shot Put (6kg) 17.55m.
- Tomysha Clark (Long Jump) - Recently crowned Oceania Champion in the Women's Long Jump at the 2022 Oceania Athletics Championships in June, Tomysha has personal bests of 6.49m in the Long Jump and 12.28 in the Triple Jump. In her first year as an open-age athlete, Tomysha won bronze at the 2022 Australian Championships with a leap of 6.26m.
- Kyle Ennis (100m/200m) - Boasting an impressive personal best of 10.37 in the 100m and 20.88 in the 200m, Kyle is the current WA State Champion in both the 100m and the 200m and represented WA in the 2022 Australian Track & Field Championships in Sydney earlier this year.
