The 2025 WA Road Walking Championships powered by Coles hosted by the WA Race Walking Club and Athletics West at Perry Lakes Reserve, on Saturday, 19th July 2025. The event includes championship races for all members. Further information on age groups and event entry can be found below.

REGISTRATION & EVENTS

Registrations are now closed

Athletes must register online through Athletics West website for each event in order to participate. 

There is one State Championship event per age group where the specifications align, conducted for all Athletics West members (Strive and Little Athletics Programs).

Events on offer include:

• Little Athletics Under 9 - Under 17
  These events can only be entered by athletes with a Little Athletics Program Membership 
• Senior Under 14 through to Open
  These events can only be entered by members of the Senior Membership

LATE ENTRIES |

Late Entries will be accepted, where places remain, on the day of the event and are payable by CARD ONLY at the technical information tent (Athletics West tent). Late entries for each event will remain open until 30 minutes prior to the listed start time as per the Final Timetable and will incur a fee*

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED

Our sport depends on volunteers to ensure events are conducted safely, fairly and on time. Please register for a volunter roster to assist in the successful delivery of the 2025 WA Road Walking Championships. To volunteer for this event please visit the volunteer registration page.

CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS - LITTLE ATHLETICS ONLY

CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS - LITTLE ATHLETICS & SENIOR MEMBERS ONLY

CHECK IN / MARSHALLING

Athletes are required to check in prior to the race to collect their Hip number. Athletes must marshal near the start area a minimum of 15 minutes prior to their scheduled race start time, where athletes will be given a race briefing.

SCRATCHINGS 

If you no longer intend to compete, please scratch from the event:

• Prior to the event: please fill out the amendment online form
• On the day: please visit the TIC (Athletics West tent) to withdraw

Refunds (where an entry fee was payable) will only be provided if you have contacted Athletics West prior to the entry closing date.

UNIFORMS

Little Athletics only events - All athletes must wear their approved Centre Uniform. Where an athlete does not have Centre uniform, they are permitted to wear their Club uniform.

All other events – All athletes must wear either their approved Club or Centre uniform, Athletics West Independent uniform or Masters Athletics WA uniform including singlet, t-shirt or crop top, and shorts, tights or briefs. Where a Club/Centre do not have shorts, tights or briefs available, athletes can wear either plain black or plain attire in the colour of their Club/Centre uniform.

COMPETITION BIBS

Competition bibs must be affixed to the front and back of their uniform with no less than four pins each. The entire bib, including sponsorship information must always be visible and no part of the bib shall be folded under the uniform.

RESULTS & MEDAL PRESENTATIONS

Results will be published on the Live Results. Following the publication of results, there will be a 15 minute protest window, following which medals will be presented. Athletes who finish in the top three (3) of their age group event in Championship events will be awarded medals. Further information on the protest and appeals process is available in the Rules and Regulations for the State Championships.

WARM UP / COOL DOWN

Athletes are only allowed to warm up on the course at the scheduled course inspection time in the program or elsewhere around the venue. Athletes are not able to cool down on the course during races.

Australian Athletics welcomes all participants in the 2025 Australian Junior Race Walking Championships. For avoidance of doubt, there is no qualification criteria for this event. All entrants are required to be current members with Athletics West. 

Age Groups & Distances | 

• Under 20(10km) - athletes born in 2006 or 2007
• Under 18(5km) - athletes born in 2008 or 2009
• Under 16(5km) - athletes born in 2010 or 2011
• Under 14(3km) - athletes born in 2012 or 2013
• Under 12(2km) - athletes born in 2014 or 2015

Entries are taken through Australian Athletics and athletes will be representing the Member Federation (Athletics West).
