The 2026 WA State Cross Country Championships powered by Qbit will be hosted by Athletics West and will take place on Saturday 27 June 2026

REGISTRATION 

The WA State Cross Country Championships is open to all members aged under 8 (Born 2019) - Open (Born 2006+) including all ages for multi-class athletes (para) and are a registered member through an affiliated club, or registered as an Athletics West independent member. If you have not currently registered for the 2025-26 Season, please visit our Membership page.

Online registrations close at 11:59pm Wednesday 17 June 2026.

CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS-  PARA ATHLETES

Para athletes must hold a State or National Classification
These events are selection trials for the Australian Cross Country Championships WA State Team. The top 10 male and female nominated placegetters per age group will be selected for the State Team. Athletes can nominate to be considered for selection through the entry portal. Further information available on the State Team page (See below)

WARM UP / COOL DOWN

Athletes are only allowed to warm up on the course at the scheduled course inspection time in the program or elsewhere around the venue. Athletes are not able to cool down on the course during races. 

COMPETITION BIBS & UNIFORMS

All athletes will receive one (1) competition bib, specific for this event. Bib collection will be at TIC (Athletics West tent) on the day. Competition bibs must be affixed to the front of their uniform with no less than four pins each. The entire bib, including sponsorship information must always be visible and no part of the bib shall be folded under the uniform. Athletes are to collect event specific bib at latest 30 minutes prior to event start time.

Competing athletes are required to wear the prescribed competition uniform by their club or centre. If an athlete is an independent Athletics West member, they are required to wear the independent uniform.

Where a Club/Centre do not have shorts, tights or briefs available, athletes can wear either plain black or plain attire in the colour of their Club/Centre uniform.

RESULTS & MEDAL PRESENTATIONS

Medal presentations will occur shortly after the conclusion of each race. Athletes who finish in the top three of their age group event will be awarded medals and will be advised to report to the medal presentation area following the recording of their place.

Results are Live on Roster Athletics and will be published to our website the following week post event. .

ROSTER ATHLETICS

This event utilises the Roster Athletics app for start lists, timetables and live results. 

MARSHALLING

Competing athletes are to marshal at the start line 15 minutes prior to their event. Failure to do so may result in the athlete unable to compete. Athletes are to line on the Start Line when advised by the starter. 

SCRATCHING

If you no longer intend to compete, please scratch from the event:

  • Prior to the event: please fill out the Contact Us Form
  • On the day: please visit the TIC (Athletics West tent) to withdraw/ or utilise the Roster Athletics App to scratch for their registered events

Refunds (where an entry fee was payable) will only be provided if you have contacted Athletics West prior to the entry closing date.

VOLUNTEERING REQUIREMENT

Our events are only possible with the support of volunteers. Events will be delayed or cancelled if we do not fulfill volunteer rosters. For members, it is compulsory to complete 1 roster per season for those competing in the winter season. Ahead of the State Championships, participants who have not completed a roster will be asked to do so at the State Championships.

STATE TEAM INFORMATION

Athletics West will select athletes to represent Western Australia as part of the State Team at the 2026 Australian Cross Country Championships (22 August 2026 Ballarat Victoria). Visit State Team page for selection guidelines and team information.
