Australian athletics Officiating Roadshow
Being a great official requires more than technical knowledge. Every interaction with an athlete, coach, volunteer or fellow official shapes the competition experience and the culture of our sport.
The Australian Athletics Officiating Roadshow, supported by Athletics West, has been designed to complement your existing technical education by focusing on the practical skills that help officials thrive both on and off the field of play. Through interactive workshops, real-world scenarios and practical discussions, you'll develop strategies to communicate effectively, lead confidently, manage challenging situations and create welcoming, inclusive environments for everyone involved in athletics.
The Roadshow will also include a technical development session delivered by Fiona Brown, a highly experienced World Athletics Silver Referee. Participants will receive practical updates, technical insights and the opportunity to discuss event-specific scenarios and best practice with one of Australia's leading officials.
The Officiating Roadshow sessions will take place over two days:
Session #1 - Culture, Inclusion & Leadership
Date: Friday, 2 October
Time: 5.30pm – 8.30pm
Location: WAIS Seminar Room
Session #2 - Technical Development Session with Fiona Brown
Date: Saturday, 3 October
Time: 12.00pm – 4.00pm
Location: Fred Napier Room and WA Athletics Stadium
