2021 AUSTRALIAN T&F CHAMPIONSHIP | DAY EIGHT RECAP

Day Eight rounded out the 2021 Australian Track and Field Championships with five final medals for Western Australia.

On Day Eight, Cody Stanfield got things started with a cracking performance in the Under 17 Men’s 400m Hurdles. A sensational final 100m saw Stanfield push past the field and claim the national title in 56.18.

Maddy Luscombe looked powerful over the 3000m. Up in the top three runners for majority of the race, Luscombe led entering the last 500m, but faced a final 400m sprint to the finish line. The Victorian athlete proved too strong and Luscombe crossed the line in 9:56.62, claiming silver.

Out in the throws, Jack Whiteside unleashed in the Men’s Under 17 Javelin throw. Looking strong over the four rounds, Whiteside’s throw of 57.76m was good enough to secure him bronze.

Deacon Ayres added another medal to his 2021 campaign, with a bronze in the Men’s Para Under 17 800m in a time of 2:57.23. While in the Jumps, Reese Prior collected a bronze in the Women’s Under 15 Para Long Jump with a best jump of 3.45m.
