2022 COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS SET FOR KALGOORLIE

Athletics West is pleased to announce the 2022 Country Athletics Championships are set for Oasis Playing Field in Kalgoorlie from the 14 to 16 of January 2022.

The Championships will see athletes of all ages given a chance to compete with the event expected to attract approximately 350 athletes, all vying for top honours and an opportunity to achieve new personal bests.

"We are delighted to head out into the goldfield and work with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder for the 2022 Country Athletics Championships. Athletics footprint is wide-reaching and the chance to work with local communities in and surrounding Kalgoorlie is fantastic," said Athletics West CEO Vince Del Prete.

"The Country Athletics Championships is a great opportunity for our regional athletes to come together and compete. We celebrate the chance to see WA's best country athletes battle it out, and I am sure Kalgoorlie will deliver a memorable experience for our members, both on and off the track."

WA's best country and regional athletes will be able to enjoy all the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has to offer, with visitors from Broome, Geraldton, Esperance, Goldfields, Albany and beyond set to attend. The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder's Acting CEO Alex Wiese said “the City is excited to be part of another great opportunity for local athletes to gain exposure to elite sports at a state level.”

Eastern Goldfields Little Athletics will host the 2022 Country Athletics Championships and are looking forward “to working with the Country Centres to offer another fabulous Country Championships in the Goldfields in 2022.”
