Athletics West is pleased to announce the 2024 Country Athletics Championships powered by Coles are set for Geraldton.

The Championships will see athletes of all ages given a chance to compete with the event expected to attract more than 350 athletes, all vying for top honours and an opportunity to achieve new personal bests.

Athletics West CEO Vince Del Prete said the organisation is “thrilled to be heading into WA’s mid west in 2024.”

“Athletics continues to grow in regional WA and we are excited to expand the Country Championships footprint and head up to Geraldton in 2024. We are excited to once again deliver a state-level event and help stimulate a new local economy, while celebrating the sport of athletics.” said Athletics West CEO Vince Del Prete.

"The Country Athletics Championships is a great opportunity for our regional athletes to come together and compete. Sport is a tool that builds communities and I am excited to once again celebrate the chance to see WA's best country athletes battle it out."

WA's best country and regional athletes will be able to enjoy all the City of Greater Geraldton has to offer, with visitors from Broome, Port Hedland, Esperance, Goldfields, Albany and beyond set to attend.

“It’s been 10 years since Geraldton Athletics has hosted a Country Championship, so our fellow country clubs are really excited to be coming to Geraldton in 2024. Athletics has been the starting point for many Midwest athletes who go on with successful sport careers.” Geraldton Athletics Centre President Phil Hadley said.

“It’s the family, friendly environment where everyone competes at the same place at the same time with a variety of disciplines. That’s what makes it an attractive sport option for many families.”
