2026 ATHLETICS CALENDER READY TO RAMP UP!

The 2026 Summer Season powered by Fuel to Go & Play, is heating up and so is the action on the track!
With the holiday break behind us, the second half of the season is set to explode with seven exciting events coming up on the WA State Championship calendar. The Perth Track Classic will launch the Australian Athletics Chemist Warehouse Summer Series, before leading into the Australian Athletics Championships in April, promising to close out what’s shaping up to be another record-breaking season of athletics.
The 2026 Country Championships in Albany, hosted alongside the Albany Athletics Club will kick things off from Friday the 16th of January before the WA State Championship calendar really ramps up.
The Championship season will get underway on Saturday 24 of January, with WA’s distance runners taking on the WA State Open and Under 20 5,000m Championships. The following weekend, the next generation of athletes will warm up the track for the 2026 Coles Junior Challenge, setting the stage for WA's sprint sensations to shine at the WA State 60m Championships on 31 January.
An action-packed February will begin with the WA State Combined Event Championships, before the return of the Perth Track Classic sees some of the nation's top athletes return to Perth on the 14 of February for the first stop on the Chemist Warehouse Summer Series. The WA State 3,000m Championships will also run after the Perth Track Classic broadcast schedule.
The Fuel to Go & Play WA State Junior Championships will close out a busy month, with the states young guns set to impress from the 20 to the 22 of the February. Senior athletes will get their shot at glory from March 6 to 8 at the Fuel to Go & Play WA State Senior Championships, before the Masters wrap up the state championship season on 28 and 29 of March with the Masters Athletics WA State Championships.
WA’s littlest athletes will test their skills on the 21 and 22 of March, for the inaugural Fuel to Go & Play Little Athletics WA Challenge. The team challenge will see athletes in the under 9 to 12 age group compete for points and PB ribbons, with the winning Metro and Country Club awarded the Stuart Dunne Memorial Shield.
Things go national in April with a suite of Australian Championships in April. The Championships will get underway with the seniors kicking things off in Sydney from 9 to 12 of April, followed by the Australian Little Athletic Championships (12-14 April) and Australian Junior Athletics Championships (15-20th April) in Brisbane.
