2026 JUNIOR ATHLETE SEASON UPDATE

After a series of national conversations, Athletics West is delighted to confirm WA will field a team in the 2026 Australian Little Athletics Championships. As part of this process and to enable fair selection of athletes, Athletics West have updated several Under 13 and Under 14 specifications to align with the Championship.

LITTLE ATHLETICS WA PROGRAM DOCUMENT

The following event specifications have been updated for the 2026 Fuel to Go & Ply WA State Junior Track & Field Championships:

Under 13 Sprint Hurdles
- Girls: 80m (68cm)
- Boys: 80m (68cm)
Under 13 Race Walk
- Girls: 1500m Race Walk
- Boys: 1500m Race Walk
Under 13 Shot Put
- Girls: 2kg
- Boys: 2kg
Under 13 Javelin
- Boys: 400g
Under 14 Long Hurdles
- Girls: 200m (68cm / 5 Flights)
- Boys: 200m (68cm / 5 Flights)

Due to the timing of these changes, Little Athletics WA Program Centres have the option to deliver the original specifications or transition to the new implements. Both are included in the updated rules and are covered by insurance.
