Published Tue 03 May 2022

Congratulations to the 21 WA athletes who have been selected in the Australian Team to compete at the Oceania Athletics Championships taking place in Mackay, Qld from 7-11 June.
Headlining WA will be Tokyo 2020 representatives Sarah Edminston, Nina Kennedy, Kurtis Marschall, Declan Tingay, Rhiannon Clarke and Ella Pardy. WA’s Open athletes will be looking to confirm selection and performances for Australia’s World Championship and Commonwealth Games teams for later this year.
As the number two ranked athlete within the Commonwealth in the discus F44, Paralympic bronze medallist Sarah Edmiston said she was thrilled to be selected for another Australian team, and one that would aid her preparations ahead of the Birmingham Games this August.
“The Oceania Championships will provide a strong competition environment and one that I will be able to get feedback on how my throwing preparations are going,” Edmiston said.
“The experience of travelling to a high level competition and being part of a team environment in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games will also be really key to my preparation.”
All four of WA’s World Under 20 selected athletes Taylah Cruttenden, Annie Pfeiffer, Ashley Spencer and Etienne Rousseau will also be competing in Mackay, looking for their first hitout in the Green and Gold.
