TIME TO GET ACTIVE AS A FAMILY!

Published Fri 09 Feb 2024

This weekend Athletics West are challenging all parents to get active with their Little Athletes at the park, in the kitchen and beyond!

As part of our partnership with Healthway and their Go For 2&5 message, we want to support more adults and kids to get active.

Whether you are still choosing a well-being goal in 2024 or have something locked in, be sure to take the family with you on the journey and try out some of World Athletics Kids Athletics Challenges

  1. Playing Let’s Explore will have you asking for more

Have you ever wanted to be a part of an exciting adventure where you climb mountains, escape from wild animals or cross a fast-flowing stream? Get creative through a game of Let’s Explore, where you use a story to guide players through a range of different movements. Get started with Let’s Explore.

  1. Become a pro at Roshambo

A great way to encourage teamwork and build bonds is through a game of Roshambo! The aim of the game is to not get caught by the chaser after a game of rock-paper-scissors, try to think outside the box and do things differently. Get started with Roshambo.

  1. Who will stand tall in a game of Reaction Wall?

Jump to reach numbered squares, from one to five, that the caller shouts out in a random order. Players jump individually and rely on their concentration and listening skills to be accurate with their jumps and reaches. This game requires players to use coordination and reactive movements to jump and reach quickly and accurately. Get started with Reaction Wall.

  1. Pay attention and get it right with a game of Traffic Light

Traffic Lights is a fast-paced and exciting game that will challenge your agility and reaction time. The aim of the game is to be the first one to cross the line, while not getting caught moving, otherwise, you’ll be sent back to the beginning! Get started with Traffic Lights.

  1. There’s no need to compromise on healthy food as temperatures rise

With the weekend getting closer and the temperature increasing, there’s no better time to get into the kitchen. Whether it’s making homemade banana and raspberry ice cream or banana pancakes, there are plenty of options to ensure your kids get there 2&5 a day. Head to Fuel to Go & Play recipes for more family-friendly and healthy meals that you can cook at home. Get started with a Fuel to Go & Play recipe.
