ACTIVE ADULTS LEADS TO ACTIVE KIDS 3
Published Fri 01 Mar 2024

This weekend Athletics West are challenging all parents to get active with their Little Athletes at the park, in the kitchen and beyond!
As part of our partnership with Healthway and their Go For 2&5 message, we want to support more adults and kids to get active.
Whether you are still choosing a wellbeing goal in 2024 or have something locked in, be sure to take the family with you on the journey and try out some of World Athletics Kids Athletics Challenges.
- Get off the Atari, and go On Safari
Beginning with a fun activity which will encourage creativity, On Safari is a game in which you choose 3 or 4 animals with different movements like jumping, hopping or running. This game will test your agility and get you active, with the aim being to make it to the safe zone and not be last. Get started with On Safari.
- Stay in your lane when you Travel by Train
Work together as a team to ensure a smooth ride with a game of Travel by Train. Follow the first player, the engine, carefully around the course to each station. Players stand at different points of the course waiting for the engine to approach and lead them to the next station. Get started with Travel by Train.
- Try not to lag in a game of Zig Zag
An activity which includes everyone, Zig Zag is a game which will challenge your kids to see how precise they can be with their throwing. Challenge yourself to see if you can complete the game without dropping a ball. Get started with Zig Zag.
- Fun Abounds in Under, Over, Around
Players work in teams to pass the ball carefully to teammates in a sequence. The last person in the queue runs to the front to restart the relay. They should try to pass at a good speed to be the first to finish the relay and not drop the ball and are encouraged to stand with their feet apart to stay balanced. Get started with Under, Over, Around.
- School is back, jump in the kitchen and prepare a snack
With school officially back for 2024, there is no better time to get in the kitchen and make some awesome healthy food then the weekend. Whether its blueberry lemon muffins for recess or a burrito bowl for lunch, there are plenty of ways that your kid can Go For 2&5 throughout the school year. Head to Fuel to Go & Play recipes page to find a family friend and nutritional meal to cook. Get started with a Fuel to Go & Play recipe.
