WA Athletes selected to represent Australia at the upcoming Commonwealth Games

A group of Western Australia's most accomplished track and field athletes have been selected to represent Australia at the upcoming Commonwealth Games, reinforcing the state's reputation as a powerhouse of elite athletics.
Olympic and world champion pole vaulter Nina Kennedy OAM (UWA Athletics Club, James Fitzpatrick), who represented Australia at both the Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Kennedy has become one of the country's most celebrated athletes and enters the Games as a leading contender for another major international medal.
Dual Commonwealth Games gold medallist Kurtis Marschall (UWA Athletics Club, Declan Carruthers) returns as one of Australia's strongest medal prospects. Marschall claimed pole vault gold on home soil at the Gold Coast 2018 Games before successfully defending his title at Birmingham 2022. His selection highlights his continued dominance in the event and his standing among the world's elite vaulters.
Middle-distance star Peter Bol (Independent, Justin Rinaldi) has also earned selection following his impressive performances on the international circuit. A finalist and fan favourite at major championships, Bol represented Australia in the 800m at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and currently holds the Australian National record.
Race walker Declan Tingay (UWA Athletics Club, Brent Vallance), captured a silver medal in the men's 10,000m walk at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Tingay has continued to establish himself among the world's best race walkers and will be aiming to build on his previous Commonwealth success.
Paralympian Rhiannon Clarke (UWA Athletics Club, Danny Kevan), has been selected in both the Women's 100m T38 and Women's 200m T38 events. Clarke represented Australia at the Gold Coast 2018 (Silver medal) and Birmingham 2022 (Bronze medal) Commonwealth Games and has earned recognition for her speed and determination.
Joining Clarke, Para-athlete Ella Pardy (UWA Athletics Club, Anne Masters) brings a wealth of experience to the Australian team, having represented the nation at three consecutive Commonwealth Games – Glasgow 2014, Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022. The Women's 100m T38 specialist has been a consistent performer on the international stage and is in great form heading into this year’s Games.
The Commonwealth Games take place from 27 July – 1 August in Glasgow Scotland.
