ATHLETICS WEST ADOPTS NATIONAL INTEGRITY FRAMEWORK

Athletics West is proud to announce its formal adoption of the Australian Athletics National Integrity Framework (NIF), reinforcing its commitment to fostering a safe, fair, and inclusive sporting environment for all participants across Western Australia.
The NIF, developed by Sport Integrity Australia in response to the Wood Review, provides a nationally consistent approach to managing integrity threats in sport. It encompasses five key policies: Member Protection, Child Safeguarding, Competition Manipulation & Wagering, Improper Use of Drugs and Medicine, and Complaints, Disputes & Discipline. These policies are designed to protect athletes, officials, volunteers, and supporters at every level of the sport.
While Athletics West has previously operated under legacy policies and was connected to the NIF through its affiliation with Australian Athletics, this formal adoption marks a significant step forward. It ensures clarity, consistency, and alignment with national standards, particularly as the sport evolves with the rise of “one clubs” and a single affiliation model.

The adoption of the NIF complements the Australian Athletics Code of Conduct, which works in tandem with the framework to guide behaviour and decision-making across the sport.
Sport Integrity Australia continues to play a vital role in supporting sports organisations through education, policy development, and capability building. Athletics West looks forward to working closely with Sport Integrity Australia and Australian Athletics to implement the framework and promote a culture of integrity throughout the athletics community.
