ATHLETICS WEST AND KUMON PARTNER FOR A BRIGHT FUTURE

Athletics West is excited to announce a new partnership with Kumon in 2021. The partnership will support the delivery of the Little Athletics Program for Schools (LAPS) in Western Australia and champion Athletics West’s vision to connect WA communities through our sport.

Building on Kumon’s 63-year history, Athletics West is excited to connect our Little Athletes with a world-leading education program to foster individual learning both on and off the track.

Athletics West CEO Vince Del Prete welcomed the new partnership and was excited to, “further connect young athletes and their families with educational opportunities to create a brighter future”.

“In 2020, Athletics West was able to engage more than 10,500 Primary School students through the Little Athletics Program for Schools. Now, thanks to Kumon, Kumon LAPS will be able to connect young West Australians with new tools to improve their experience both in athletics and the classroom.”

With 42 centres in WA, Kumon provides supplementary, after-school mathematics and English programmes for children that build their mental calculation, reading comprehension, and self-learning ability.

“When Kumon students encounter a new problem, they keep trying until they are able to solve it. They also understand that the right amount of practice lays the foundation for smooth progress”, said Joanne Adam from Kumon Western Australia. “This is similar to young athletes who keep trying and continue practising until they achieve their goals.
