Athletics West and WA Marathon Club Unite to Strengthen Athletics and Distance Running Across Western Australia
Athletics West and the WA Marathon Club have formalised a new partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking a significant step towards strengthening athletics and distance running throughout Western Australia.
The agreement establishes a collaborative framework that brings together two of the state's leading athletics and running organisations to work more closely in areas of shared interest, creating greater opportunities for participants, event organisers and the broader community.
By aligning efforts, Athletics West and the WA Marathon Club aim to enhance the participant experience, support the sustainable growth of events and strengthen the voice of athletics when engaging with government and key stakeholders.
Athletics West CEO, Tyson Beattie, says the partnership strengthens both organisations.
“This partnership allows Athletics West and the WA Marathon Club to collaborate in several ways including creating synergies across the event calendar, cross promotion and advocating for funding and commercial opportunities.”
“The WA Marathon Club has an active and enthusiastic participation base, and we are excited to work with the club to help benefit athletes across the state.”
WAMC President, Kim Vivian, acknowledges that this partnership will strengthen the technical and regulatory standards of its events.
“WAMC are looking forward to working closely with Athletics West to enhance the technical and regulatory aspects of our events, and use the synergies between our organisations to improve the experience for all runners in Western Australia."
