DAY THREE RECAP | 2022 AUS ALL SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS

WA’s leading ladies once again shined in Adelaide with Charli-Rose Carlyon and Niamh MacAlasdair both claiming Australian All Schools titles, while a thrilling Under 18 4x400m relay capped off the final day of the Championships.

Charli-Rose Carlyon got things started on the track with a cracking run in the Under 18 3000m. Sitting with the pack for the majority of the race, Carlyon set herself up for a fast finish and was able to flash down the straight to cross the line in 9:44.49 and collect the All Schools title.  

Out in the Para Jumps, WA’s Niamh MacAlasdair capped off her 2022 All Schools campaign with a gold medal in the Under 20 Para Long Jump final. A final jump of 3.94m was enough for the WA Para Athlete to secure 75% and secure the Australian title.

Jordan Hamilton backed up his sensational 4x100m relay performance with a strong showing in the Under 16 400m. Powering through the back 200m, Hamilton entered the final hundred just behind the Victorian athlete. Pushing hard, Hamilton crossed the line in 48.82 to claim silver.

The track medals were dominated by WA’s strong crop of middle distance runners. Jamie Dean and Danielle Graham both returned to the podium, this time for the 1500m. Graham got things started with a strong showing and sprinted home to collect bronze, while Deane showed true grit in a hotly contested Under 16 final, winning silver in a time of 3:59.46. A strong finish by James Artemis saw the WA athlete hunt down the podium over the last 200m and win bronze in the Under 14 Boys 800m in a time of 2:04.85.

Out in the Field, WA’s Oliver Chapman claimed WA’s first throws medal of the day in the Boys Under 18 Javelin. Unleashing in the final round, Chapman was able to jump into the medals and claim bronze with a best throw of 54.82m. Jock Parkinson rounded a big All Schools campaign with a bronze in the Under 17 Boys Shot Put, throwing 14.98m to claim his medal.

WA finished off the 2022 Chemist Warehouse Australian All Schools Track in style with an incredible Under 18 Mixed 4x400m relay. A cracking start from Jayden Moss put WA into the podium places, followed by two spectacular back-to-back runs by Sienna Fillis and Skye Bowron. Passing the baton in fourth place, Declan Morrison worked hard over the first 200m to put WA up into the medals, before a sensational final 100m attempt to run down the Victorian team. Fighting hard to the line, WA collected bronze in a time of 3:34.16.
