EVENT RECAP | 2022 WA SCHOOLS CUP

Sacred Heart College has won the 2022 WA Schools Cup after a strong showing at the WA All Schools Championships powered by Go For 2&5. The inaugural event saw more than 130 schools represented at the state qualification event for the National Final in December.

Led by the likes of Sienna Tonkin, Sienna Maltese, Emilia Reed and Alex Stewart, Sacred Heart College scored 175 points, edging out Shenton College by four points. The two schools had a strong showing and beat third place by just over 30 points. The overall top ten schools were:

Sacred Heart College
Shenton College
Carine Senior High School
Aquinas College
Iona Presentation College
Trinity College
Quinns Baptist College
Belridge Secondary College
Perth College
Mater Dei College

In the Junior Boys and Girls Division, Belridge Secondary College was able to best Methodist Ladies’ College and win the Girls division, while Lynwood Senior High School pipped Hampton Senior High School for first.

PSA’s Aquinas College was able to beat Scotch College for the Intermediate Boys title, with Iona Presentation College dominating the girl’s Intermediate division.

Then finally in the Senior Girls Competition, Mercedes College flexed their athletic ability with a powerhouse performance to take out the title, with Rossmoyne Senior High School winning the Senior Boys competition.

The WA Schools Cup replaces the Nitro Schools Challenge and former Schools Knockouts formats in line with the new National School Challenge event. The Australian National Schools Challenge is set for Adelaide on Monday 12 December 2022.
