EVENT RECAP| 2023/24 RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Over 1700 athletes travelled to WA Athletics Stadium for the final and undoubtedly biggest event of the season, with clubs and centres from around Perth all competing for one last chance at glory before the end of the year. 

UWA Little Athletics Centre dominated to claim the Female Track title, finishing the day with 85 points. Cockburn Little Athletics Centre managed to claim second place with a score of 61 points, whilst Kingsway Little Athletics Centre rounded out the podium finishes, ending the day closely behind Cockburn with 57 points. 

There was a similar domination in the Male Track competition, with Melville Athletics Centre scoring a State Title-winning 84 points, standing clear of Inglewood Athletics Centre and Ridgewood Athletics Centre, who took out silver and bronze with scores of 63 and 60 points, respectively.

It was a tight race for the State Title in the Field Relay, with Kingsway Little Athletics Centre edging out Belmont Athletics Centre by only 11 points, finishing the day with 15,832 and 15,821 points, respectively. Taking out third place was Ridgewood, who claimed the final podium position with a score of 14,008.  

There were also several impressive individual results over the course of the day, including a spectacular State Record-winning run in the Under 18 Women’s 4x100m. Perth Track and Field athletes Ilaria Leone, Grace Ainsworth, Sienna Maltese and Leah O’Brian all pushed hard to claim a new State Title with a time of 46.27. 

The weekend was also highlighted by two new Little Athletics State Records in the Under 12 and Under 14 Girl’s 4x100m Relay. In the Under 12 age group, UWA Little Athletics Centre runners Erin Cotter, Anna Fuzikova, Annabel Keys, and Isabelle Mina Cho crossed the line in 52.40 in the preliminary races, setting a new Little Athletics State Record in the process. UWA Little Athletics Centre would break even more Little Athletics States Records, as Lucy O’Donnell, Sade Hews, Millie Driscoll and Mollie Heller would lead the U14 4x100m Relay, completing the race in 50.32
