KUMON BACKS GRASS ROOT ATHLETICS WITH NEWLY ESTABLISHED COMMUNITY FUND

Kumon Australia is set to reinforce the Little Athletics WA program with the newly established Kumon Community Fund. Building on the established partnership between Kumon and Athletics West, the fund will help support Little Athletics WA Centres and One Clubs purchase equipment for the upcoming season.
The Kumon Community Fund will nurture even stronger connections between the global education provider and WA’s growing athletics community, as Little Athletics WA Centres and One Clubs will be able to access grants of up to $5,000 and purchase critical equipment for the upcoming 2024-25 Summer Season, powered by Go For 2&5.
Athletics West CEO Vince Del Prete hailed the development as an “exciting step for the partnership to further empower our community.”
“We are delighted to have Kumon return as a major sponsor of the sport and further their commitment to helping the next generation prosper. Whether it is in the classroom or at their local athletics centre, Kumon are helping ensure every athlete can run, jump and throw,”
“Our Centres work hard to ensure every athlete can take part and now thanks to Kumon they will have access to grants to ensure they have the equipment. The community connection between our Athletics Centres and Kumon Education Centres are key, and it is exciting to celebrate that through this fund.”
Joanne Adam, Division Leader of Kumon WA, is proud to be part of this initiative to support grassroots athletics.
“There are many similarities between Kumon and athletics. Our Mathematics and English programmes provide students with a strong foundation in calculation and reading ability, the basis for the study of all other subjects at school. Similarly, athletics is the foundation for all sports.”
“Kumon students also always strive for their personal bests, as do athletes. Through this partnership, we are proud to be helping children to be their best – inside and outside of the classroom.”
Grants can be used to buy athletics equipment such as shot puts and high jump mats, as well as safety and injury prevention items such as first aid kits, defibrillators, and laptops to support volunteers and make the sport safer.
The new Kumon Community Fund Grants are now open with Little Athletics WA Centres and One Clubs eligible to apply for up to $5,000 via the portal below.
