NIGHT OF THE FIVE IS BACK!

Published Tue 18 May 2021

The Night of the Five is set to return to the WA Athletics Stadium on Wednesday 2 of June with new distances for WA's growing middle distance contingent.

Returning for the first time, the Night of the Five is a chance for recreational runners and middle distance fans to run under the lights and get an official time. Entrants are seeded into heats according to their submitted time, so no matter the ability, runners will be against similar timed athletes.

Athletics West will offer two new distances for juniors and newcomers, with runners able to choose between a 1000m, 3000m or 5000m distance.

"We are excited to see the Night of the Five return following some impressive results by the WA team at the recent Australian Championships, and especially after last week's 5000m Tokyo qualifying performance by dual Olympian David McNeill at the WA Athletics Stadium. This event offers the WA running community the opportunity to go for personal best and challenge your mates or your family members under the stadium lights." Athletics West General Manager for Pathways, Lyndsay Troode said.

Spectators are welcome and encouraged, with trackside seating so you can be up close to the action. Please note runners must be 7 years old by 31 December 2021 to compete in the 1000m, 11 years old by the 31 December 2021 to compete in the 3000m, and 14 years or over to compete in the 5000m races.

To register click HERE or head to the Events Calendar on our website. Registrations for the event closes on Monday 31 May at midnight.
