Published Fri 22 Jul 2022

Athletics West are excited to release our new season information, including key dates and membership fees for the 2022/23 Summer Season powered by Go For 2&5.
ONE SPORT SEASON FOR ATHLETICS IN WA
The 2022/23 Summer Season will see an alignment of State Championship events, culminating in the WA State Track & Field Championships and the WA State Junior Track & Field Championships.
Entry to the WA State Track & Field Championships will be open to all members, of both the Strive and Little Athletics Program. The top three (3) athletes in each event will qualify automatically for the WA State Team for the 2023 Australian Track & Field Championships.
Entry to the WA State Junior Track & Field Championships will require Little Athletics Program membership and will be subject to meeting qualification criteria, due to program numbers. Little Athletics members can qualify for the WA State Junior Track & Field Championships by:
- Achieving the entry standard - standards will be released ahead of the 2022/23 Summer Season and will be based on historical results from Zones Championships and State Championships or;
- Metro only: athletes who are ranked in the top 2 performance in the relevant event at their Centre are eligible to enter
- Country/North West only: athletes who place in the top 2 at the 2023 WA Country Championships.
As a transition opportunity, athletes born in 2010 can compete at either or both Championship events in accordance with the entry criteria.

22/23 ATHLETICS WEST MEMBERSHIP FEES
Athletics West is looking forward to the start of the upcoming 2022/23 Athletics season, especially as we progress further towards one sport and build a seamless transition for athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers moving through the athletics pathway. To remain competitive in a crowded sports market, Athletics West must continually adapt and seek news ways to innovate service delivery and meet member expectations.
Over the past five years, Athletics West (formerly Little Athletics WA and Athletics WA) has been able to sustain the sport’s current fee structure by absorbing the increasing cost of operations without passing this on to members. However, even with the efficiencies achieved as a result of our merger, and as we continue to strive towards making athletics the sport of choice for West Australians, there is a requirement to increase fees to meet the increasing operational costs and delivery of the sport’s programs, services and events State-wide.
To find out more by downloading an overview of the 2022/23 Athletics West Membership Fees, noting:
- This fee structure does not include Centre or Club fees
- New dual membership and upfront membership options for Strive (inclusive of Strive entry fees)
- Reduced entry fee for weekly Strive competitions
