PREPPED AND READY TO GO IN MACKAY

The 2022 Oceania Athletics Championships kicks off today in Mackay, QLD, where 21 WA Athletes will be competing for the top spot in the Oceania region.

Headlining the WA Open athletes are Oceania Record Holder Sarah Edmiston (Discus, Paul Edmiston), Angus Armstrong (Pole Vault, Paul Burgess), Cruz Hogan (Javelin, Morgan Ward), Ella Pardy (Danny Kevan) and Rhiannon Clarke (Danny Kevan).

Sarah Edmiston will be looking to record a significant throw to make sure her name is feared when she takes to the circle at the 2022 Commonwealth Games later this year.

Angus Armstrong is no fresh face to the high performance scene; he will look to jump high to put his best foot forward for selection to this year’s Commonwealth Games team.

Coming off his best season yet, after producing personal bests at the Australian Championships and again at the Brisbane Track Classic, Cruz Hogan is ready to continue his fine form.

Both Ella Pardy and Rhiannon Clarke will also be looking to secure fast times in the 100m T38 as they set to prepare for the Commonwealth Games later this year.

All four West Australian World Under 20 representatives, Taylah Cruttenden (100m, Braiden Clarke), Etienne Rousseau (Discus and Shot Put, Didier Poppe), Ashley Spencer (400mH, Remo Pollasti), and Annie Pfeiffer (400m, Lyn Foreman), will be looking to record big performances to show they are in-form before heading over to Columbia later this year.

Future stars in the Under 18 age group Olivia Dodds (Lyn Foreman), Robert Marchesi-Scott (Leanne Marchesi), and Jack Whiteside (Chelsea Whiteside, James Fitzpatrick) will all be looking forward to representing Australia at the Oceania Championships for the first time and hopefully come away with some big personal bests.
