Six of WA's best to take on the world in Eugene

Australia’s best track and field athletes have been named to compete at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in just 7 days’ time. The Championships will be held in Oregon, Eugene, with a strong team of 64 athletes. Six of these athletes have been named from WA.
Inform pole vaulters Nina Kennedy (Paul Burgess) and Kurtis Marschall (Paul Burgess) will be looking at producing their best in the brand new Oregon Stadium, having spent the last 6 weeks competing in Europe finding form against the world’s best.
Fan favourite Peter Bol (Justin Rinaldi), coming off a fresh 800m Australian record, will be looking to better that at the championships and come away with a medallion around his neck, after narrowly missing one at last year’s Tokyo Olympics.
Matthew Ramsden (Nic Bideau) who is no new face to Australian teams anymore, will be taking on the best in the world in the 1500m and 5000m in Eugene.
It’s fair to say track and field is a gruelling sport set with countless obstacles. No one knows this more than Javelin thrower Cruz Hogan (Morgan Ward). Having competed in the sport for the last 21 years, Hogan has finally been named on his first Australian Team. Hogan has been struck with countless injuries over the years, holding him back from reaching his potential. After an incredible breakthrough season, Hogan has been given the ticket he has deserved for so long.
Declan Tingay (Steve Tingay) rounds out the six WA athletes named in the Australian team. Tingay will take on the gruelling 20km walk.
The 2022 World Athletics Championships will commence on the 15th of July finishing on the 24th.
