Success at the 2026 Junior International Tour in Malaysia

The Western Australian team has returned home after an outstanding six-day campaign at the 2026 Junior International Tour in Malaysia. Our team delivered an exceptional championship campaign, achieving success across both track and field while embodying resilience, camaraderie and sportsmanship. Competing in challenging humid conditions, athletes rose to the occasion, overcoming adversity and supporting one another every step of the way.
Held from 14–20 July 2026, the tour forms an important part of the athlete development pathway, providing emerging athletes with valuable international competition experience. For many team members, it was their first opportunity to proudly wear the black and gold on the international stage, bridging the gap between state-level competition and future national and international representative opportunities.
The tour centred around the 2026 Selangor Junior Athletics Championships, where the team competed over three days against some of the region's best young athletes.
The boys faced strong competition throughout the championships, with Noah Martin (Bunbury Districts Little Athletics) leading the way with two gold and two bronze medals, including a standout performance in the 4x400m relay. Henry Malkin (UWA Athletics Club) showcased remarkable endurance, claiming gold in the 1500m and silver in the 800m on the same day before returning to contribute to the relay team. Lewis Pianta (Cockburn Athletics) earned silver and bronze medals in the Long Jump and Triple Jump, while Jayden Fenn (Bunbury Districts Little Athletics) and Max Murphy (Rockingham Districts Little Athletics) both secured medals in the Discus and Shot Put.
The girls were equally impressive, with Shy'Kyla Narrier (Joondalup Athletics Centre) and Lucy Nell (Bunbury Districts Little Athletics) producing outstanding performances, including multiple gold-medal results. Harmony Narrier (Joondalup Athletics Centre) and Shy'Kyla demonstrated incredible versatility and commitment across multiple events, while many athletes embraced new challenges by competing in higher age groups and unfamiliar disciplines.
The relay events were a particular highlight of the tour, with memorable comeback performances, breakthrough personal bests and athletes stepping up when their teammates needed them most reflected the strong team culture that developed throughout the week.
Congratulations to all athletes, coaches and team managers who represented Western Australia with pride throughout the tour.
