TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT | 2024 AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

A powerhouse WA team has been named for the 2024 Chemist Warehouse Australian Athletics Championships with more than 300 of the state's best ready to go for gold in Adelaide.
The pinnacle event of the Australian domestic season, this year's edition will have more than just the national title on the line with the Championships a critical event for those Australian athletes looking to secure a spot in the upcoming Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The WA team will be headlined by 2023 World Athletics Champion Nina Kennedy (Paul Burgess), 2023 World Para Athletics Silver-medallist Rhiannon Clarke (Danny Kevan) and World Athletics Championship Bronze-medallist Kurtis Marschall (Paul Burgess).
Fellow Australian team members Peter Bol (Just Rinaldi), Matthew Ramsden (Nic Bideau), Sarah Edmiston (Paul Edmiston), Declan Tingay (Brent Vallance), Jackson Hamilton (Morgan Ward), Ella Pardy (Danny Kevan) and Cruz Hogan (Morgan Ward) will look to consolidate their domestic seasons in Adelaide as they attempt to make a return to the Australian team for Paris.
WA's impressive list of Under 20 athletes will look to make their mark as final selections for the World Athletics Under 20 Championships are determined. 10 WA athletes have registered a qualifying standard for their selected event and will now look to claim the Australian title. Leading the pack will be Decathlete Jack Whiteside (Chelsea Whiteside), sprinter Olivia Dodds (Lyn Foreman), walker Alexandra Griffin (Jared Tallent) and Commonwealth Youth Games Finalist Ky Hehir (Matthew Ramsden) as they look to break through a stacked age group of Australian athletes.
Spread across nine days, the Championships will launch with the star-studded Open and Under 20 Age group before the junior age groups join the Championships on Sunday 14th.
The 2024 Chemist Warehouse Australian Athletics Championships will be held from Thursday 11 April to Friday 19 April at the South Australia Athletics Stadium in Adelaide. Spectators can purchase tickets for the four-day Championships HERE.
