VALE DAVID CARR

Athletics West is saddened to announce the passing of Life Member David Carr.

David was a devoted member of the community who contributed to the sport of athletics at every level, fulfilling a range of responsibilities. From starting out as an athlete to taking on officiating duties with Athletics WA and being a founding member of the Masters WA Athletics Club, Carr's contribution was immeasurable. 

More recently David has been a constant fixture in Masters Athletics as Patron, Life Member, and an internationally celebrated Champion Athlete. Earlier this year Carr competed at the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships where he was awarded the 2022 World Masters Athlete of the Year Award, after he set new world marks in the mile, 2,000m steeplechase, 3,000m, 5,000m and 10,000m for the 90+ category.

On behalf of the Athletics West Board and the wider community, we would like to pass on our deepest condolences to David's family and friends at this time.
