WA ATHLETES SHINE ON INTERNATIONAL STAGE IN SINGAPORE

Published Thu 10 Jul 2025

Western Australia's rising stars recently returned from an unforgettable international experience at the 30th Annual International Athletics Competition in Singapore, taking on talented athletes from the Singapore Sports School Council and the Ministry of Education of Malaysia.

Held as a friendly international meet for Under 15 & Under 16 athletes, the event provided a valuable opportunity for young athletes to experience high-level competition while building connections across borders. Throughout the event, sportsmanship remained at the forefront and WA athletes proudly embodied this spirit on and off the track.

Despite the friendly nature of the competition, the level of talent and determination displayed by the WA team was nothing short of outstanding. Across both track and field events, our athletes demonstrated a strong competitive edge, with many achieving personal bests and podium finishes. Their performance highlighted the depth of skill and dedication within Western Australia’s next generation of athletes.

A special congratulations to Shy'Kyla Narrier and Brody Oliver, who were awarded the Athletics West Under 15 Champion Athlete trophies, and to Chilli Broughton and Michael Passeretto, who took home the Under 16 Champion Athlete titles. These awards were a result of slew of impressive results and their leadership and sportsmanship throughout the tour.

Beyond the medals and results, what stood out most was the camaraderie and mutual respect shown between all teams. Our athletes embraced the cultural exchange, created new friendships, and gained invaluable international experience all while representing Western Australia and Athletics West with pride and professionalism.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our hosts in Singapore and the Malaysian team for their warm hospitality and the opportunity to participate in such a long-standing and prestigious event. Congratulations to every athlete who took part, you’ve done yourselves, your families, and Athletics West proud!
