Published Thu 17 Apr 2025

Western Australia has wrapped up an outstanding campaign at the 2025 Australian Athletics Championships, with athletes combining for an impressive 128 medals and a slew of state and state all comers records across both the Junior and Senior Championships.

The Junior Championships proved a hotbed of emerging talent, with WA athletes collecting 31 gold, 32 silver and 26 bronze medals. On the senior stage, the state’s top-tier athletes added a further 17 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze, showcasing the strength and depth of the WA athletics community.

It wasn’t just medals that made headlines—records tumbled across the country as WA athletes rose to the occasion. In total, 23 records were broken by West Aussies, including 10 Championship Records, 3 National Records, and 10 new State Records.

Please note, further National records for WA’s Para Athletes are pending confirmation with Australian Athletics following the ratification of current potential records that have been submitted for review.

This success is a testament to the commitment of athletes, coaches, clubs and support networks right across the state. From juniors making their first mark on the national stage, to seasoned seniors continuing to push the bar higher, WA’s presence at this year’s championships was as dominant as it was inspiring.

Athletics West congratulates all athletes and teams involved in this phenomenal campaign.
