This weekend Karratha will see the return of the North West Championships, with the event shaping up to be the biggest one yet. Over 200 athletes, families and supporters from across the North West region will gather at Butler Reserve for two days packed with athletics action, excitement and local sporting pride.
The competition is an exciting opportunity for athletes of all agesto travel to the tropical city in the hopes of claiming a gold medal, improving their personal bests and making memories that last a lifetime.
CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION
The 2025 North West Championships are open to all participants, and you do not need to be a member to participate;however, only North West registered athletes will be eligible to receive a medal.
Athletics West are proud to deliver the 2025 North West Athletics Championships with Karratha Little Athletics Centre, City of Karratha,The Brayshaw Foundation, and the Bibbulmun Fund powered by Fremantle Foundation.
COMMUNITY INFORMATION
OFFICIALS/VOLUNTEERS UPSKILLING CLINICS
Athletics West will be hosting a free officiating upskilling clinic to kick off our 2025 North West Championships! Join our Officials in our upskilling sessions to learn more about the basics of officiating. These practical sessions are perfect for parents, volunteers and officials who want to learn more about site preparation, event judging and processes, roles and rules, and more.
Officiating the Track
There will be two clinics held to learn about how to officiate the track, including information about race starting (long track vs short track), pre-race marshalling, race infringements and more.
Officiating Field Events (Jumps & Throws)
For those who are interested in gaining some practical experience and learning more about officiating field events, two education clinics will be held. These sessions will cover general jumps & throws officiating, specific rules for these events, site preparation, competition judging and more.
COACH EDUCATION
Athletics West are pleased to host two coach upskilling workshops, aimed towards accredited beginner to intermediate coaches who would like to enhance their knowledge and confidence in coaching athletics events. Join Kylie Wheeler as she takes coaches through the basic of athletics coaching. Coaches will be able to interact throughout the session and develop their skill set and confidence in a variety of athletics events.
