RAMSDEN TO LEAD WA'S BEST DISTANCE RUNNERS IN 5000M RECORD ATTEMPT
Matthew Ramsden is aiming to break his own 5000m WA State Record and challenge for the State All-comers Record (currently held by Ben St Lawrence) at the Keep On Running 5000m event tonight.
RETURN TO COMPETITION
WA Government has announced Phase 4 will be implemented this Saturday 27 June 2020, as part of the staged lifting of COVID-19 restrictions based on the advice of the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) and the WA Department of Health.

BUNBURY TO HOST 2021 WA STATE COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Athletics West today announced that the 2021 West Australian State Country Championships will be hosted between 15 – 17 January 2021 at the Bunbury Regional Athletics Arena, Hay Park Bunbury, home of the Bunbury & Districts Little Athletics Centre.

It is with great excitement for the future of the athletics in Western Australia that we announce Little Athletics WA (LAWA) and Athletics WA (AWA) will unify under the Athletics West (AW) Constitution.
WA TARGET TALENT PROGRAM
The Target Talent Program (TTP) is Athletics Australia’s (AA’s) early talent identification strand of their High Performance Pathway Strategy.  In Western Australia, the program is managed and delivered by the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) in accordance with AA principles, with valued support from Athletics in Western Australia.

As the 2019-20 Season formally comes to a close, Athletics in WA reflects on the first successful season under the One Management Team model. Â Whilst the summer athletics season ended abruptly amidst the COVID-19 crisis, we have continued to make significant progress in our transition to becoming One Sport.

Weekend Wrap: Australian Combined Events Championships & Canberra Track Classic
The Australian Combined Events Championships took place over the weekend at the Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre, with seven WA athletes making the trip to Brisbane.
STATE 5,000M CHAMPIONSHIPS & AUSTRALIAN WALKS CHAMPIONSHIPS
The State 5000m Championships took place on Friday night, with Under 20 and Open contesting the 12.5 lap race. The Open State titles were claimed by Sinead Noonan (17:13.46) and Kurt Wesley (14:56.18), with the Under 20 State titles won by Tia Chitty (17:43.68) and Brandon Ford (14:55.61). Congratulations to all athletes and their coaches and support teams.
TOKYO 2020 OLYMPIC QUALIFIER FOR KURTIS MARSCHALL
The first event of the Coles Summer Super Series; the Jandakot Airport Track Classic has set the bar extremely high in competition, with West Australian Pole Vaulter Kurtis Marschall jumping 5.80m, which is a Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifying height.
