The Long Walk to Paris | Australia’s Olympic Quest at the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships

Australia’s elite race walkers will compete for all-important Olympic berths at the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships in Antalya, Türkiye next month, with a green and gold continent ready to face a groundbreaking challenge in the inaugural global Marathon Walks Mixed Relay. WA's Alexandra Griffin (WA) will make her green and gold debut while Olympian Declan Tingay (WA) will lead a strong Australian contingent.

The next generation of Australian athletes will head to Adelaide for the 2024 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships with __ of WA’s Little Athletes set to represent the state. Expanding in 2024, the best Little Athletes from WA will look to cap off a stellar Summer Season and make the most as they battle it out at South Australia Athletics Stadium.  

2024 ROAD WALKING SEASON RELEASED

Athletics West is excited to announce the 2024 Road Walking Season with five rounds set to thrill the 2024 Winter Season calendar. The 2024 season will include four rounds of Road Walking events, as well as the WA Road Walking Championships in August.

Athletics West is excited to announce the Cross Country Season with six rounds set to dominate the 2024 Winter Season calendar.

HEHIR AND CARLYON BOUND FOR BELGRADE

Australia is set to continue its status as a global presence in distance running at the 2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia on March 30, with a 20-strong team including WA's Charli-Rose Carlyon and Ky Hehir

More than 900 junior athletes will descend on the WA Athletics Stadium this weekend to battle it out at the 2024 WA State Junior Track & Field Championships powered by Go For 2&5. After another strong season of Little Athletics action, the best in the state will get their chance to go for glory as family and friends cheer on over three massive days of competition.

As the Paris Paralympic Games draw near, a select group of 20 Australian para athletes are gearing up for their final international competition before the big dance, with the 2024 World Para Athletics Championships taking place in Kobe, Japan from 17-25 May.

2024 WA JUNIOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS NOW OPEN

Registrations for the 2024 WA State Junior Track and Field Championships powered by Go For 2&5 are now open. The 2024 WA State Junior Track and Field Championships powered by Go For 2&5 will be held from the 8th to the 10th of March and will see some of WA’s brightest future stars battle it out to be crowned State Champion.

WEATHER DOESN’T DAMPEN SUPER SUNDAY AT WA ATHLETICS STADIUM

The 2024 WA State Championships Powered by Go For 2&5 has gone out with a bang, concluding with the state’s best athletes showing off their prowess in the field and on the track. Sasha Zhoya had the crowd up and about, saluting his home state with a spectacular season-opener on his path to Paris. Melissa Foster sprang to an incredible World Masters Record, whilst Olivia Dodds claimed her second consecutive state title in the Women’s U20 200m.

COOL CONDITIONS UNABLE TO STOP WA’S BEST FROM SHINING

Despite rainy and overcast conditions at the WA Athletics Stadium, nothing could stop WA’s best from delivering the goods on Day Three of the WA State Track & Field Championships powered by Go For 2&5. A stellar showing on the track was dominated by World Under 20 hopefuls Amelia Rowe, Danielle Graham, and Ky Hehir, while out-of-towners produced some magic in the 100m finals.  

FANTASTIC FIELD DOMINATES DAY TWO OF 2024 WA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

A ferocious and fast-paced flurry of field results dominated Day Two of the 2024 WA State Championships powered by Go For 2&5. Etienne Rousseau, Jaxon Stewart and Lauren Kelly delivered thrilled with huge results in the throws, while recently crowned Australian Race Walk Champion Alexandra Griffin delivered a masterclass on Day One. 

MEDAL HUNT TO BEGIN IN GLASGOW AT WORLD ATHLETICS INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

As the Olympic spirit begins to stir across the globe, seven of Australia’s leading athletes including four global medallists and four national record-holders will come together to don the green and gold at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow from March 1-3.
