RAMSDEN READY TO ROCK ZATOPEK AS ATHLETE AND COACH

Matthew Ramsden will take on double duty this weekend when he launches his campaign for a berth at Paris 2024 at the On Track Nights ZÁTOPEK:10 in Melbourne. Lining up in the Men’s 3000m for a hit out with Australian U18 1500m Record holder Cameron Myers and fellow West Australian Jesse Hunt, Ramsden will also have a close eye on the U20 3000m as coach of Commonwealth Youth Games athlete Ky Hehir.

TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT | 2023 AUS ALL SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Western Australia has amassed a formidable team of 204 athletes who are set to take on the rest of the country next week at the 2023 Chemist Warehouse Australian All Schools Championships. Playing the role of host state for the first time since 2019, WA's best high school-aged athletes are set to light up the WA Athletics Stadium with three days of athletics action.

WA OFFICIALS TO LEAD THE WAY AT AUSTRALIAN ALL SCHOOLS

After years of dedication and hard work, the future stars of Brisbane 2032 will descend on Perth as part of the 2023 Chemist Warehouse Australian All School Championships this December. Leading the way will be the 38 WA Officials selected to administer the Championships, as well as the more than 70 inter-state officials bound for Perth.

NIGHT OF THE 5 IS BACK AND BIGGER!

The Night of the 5 is back, bigger and newly branded thanks to Healthway and their 'Go For 2&5' message. As of the 2023-24 Summer Season, the event will now be called 'Night of the Go For 2&5' with the event expanding to include 2,000m races, as well as the 5,000m distance. 

2024 COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS NOW OPEN

Registrations are now open for the 2024 Country Championships powered by Coles set for Geraldton. The 2024 Country Championships powered by Coles will be held from the 12 to 14 of January 2024 at Geraldton's La Fiamma Sporting Club.

RECORDS TUMBLE DURING SIZZLING COMBINED EVENTS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Over 220 of WA’s best multi-eventers battled hot conditions at the WA Athletics Stadium as they tried to claim gold at the WA State Combined Events Championships. Jack Whiteside led the weekend’s competition with the West Track athlete putting in a stand-out performance to set a State Record and all-important World Athletics U20 Championship qualifier.

EVENT PREVIEW | STATE COMBINED CHAMPIONSHIPS 2023

More than 220 of WA's best multi-event athletes will look to battle it out for glory this weekend when the 2023 WA State Combined Championships get underway at the WA Athletics Stadium. Headlined by National Combined Event medallists Jaxon Stewart, Cameron Schirmer, Ella Batten and Rhianna Di Guiseppe, the weekend will offer an exciting look at the next generation of Heptathletes and Decathletes vying for the state title.

WA TEENAGERS SET FOR DEVELOPMENT BOOST

WA’s teenagers are set for a boost on and off the track with Athletics West launching a new and comprehensive Youth Development program. Set to launch at the end of the month, the program is open to 15 to 17-year-olds and will aim to help drive more opportunities for teenagers in athletics.

STATE RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS PROGRAM UPDATE

Athletics West are excited to announce a reinvigorated program for the 2023 WA State Relay Championships powered by Go For 2&5, with nominations for Centres and Clubs set to open at the end of this month.

2023 WA ALL SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIP NOW OPEN

The 2023 WA All Schools Championships powered by Go For 2&5 are set for the 3rd to 5th November at the WA Athletics Stadium and is open to all High School aged students born in 2004-2011 (inclusive). Participants do not need to be a member of Athletics West to compete and can choose the 'non-member' registration option. 2023 will also see every registered student receive a personalised competition bib with their surname if they register before Monday 30th October. 

RUN GIANTS SET FOR A SPOOKY SUNDAY FUN RUN

Our friends at Run Giants are back with an exciting, and spooky opportunity for our Little Athletes to participate in a Kids Only Halloween Themed Fun Run at Perry Lakes. Be a part of the fun as you weave your way through the beautiful grounds of Perry Lakes if you dare! Will you be trick or treated?

10 SEASON COMMEMORATIVE BADGE FOR SENIOR ATHLETES

Athletics West is excited to announce a new initiative, to acknowledge senior athletes who have competed as a WA Athlete for over 10 seasons at Strive.  Athletes will now be able to claim a 10-season commemorative badge to display on their bib.

RAISE THE BAR CAMP HELPING STUDENTS TO ACHIEVE HIGHER

The second Raise the Bar camp of the year was recently held in Perth, giving Indigenous high school students an opportunity to not only access facilities used by WA’s high performance athletes, but also make important connections with other students.

WA ATHLETES IMPRESS AT SOLD OUT PERTH RUNNING FESTIVAL

Over 10,000 keen runners pounded the pavement on Sunday for the 2023 Perth Running Festival. The runners were treated to warm weather and a beautiful course that showcased some of Perth’s best landscapes, including the Swan River, the Matagarup Bridge and Optus Stadium.
