EVENT RECAP | 2022 AUSTRALIAN CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

WA Cross Country runners put up their best foot forward at the 82nd instalment of the Australian Cross Country Championship, held at Oakbank, returning from a two-year hiatus. Despite the muddy terrain, the West Aussies showed a lot of grit and return home with four medals and solid overall team performance.

Athletics West is pleased to announce the 50-athlete-strong WA State Team for the 2022 Australian Cross Country Championships, set to be contested on the 27th of August at the Oakbank Racecourse in Adelaide. 

2022 NORTH WEST CHAMPIONSHIPS NOW OPEN

Registrations are now open for the 2022 North West Championships set for Broome this September. Thanks to the Shire of Broome, the 2022 WA North West Championships will be held on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 at the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre.

The next generation of Australian athletics stars is set to take on the world in Cali, Columbia starting in the early hours of Tuesday.   The Australian team of 55 athletes is set for a massive week of athletics competition and is one of the largest contingents ever sent to the Championships. ATHLETICS WEST LAUNCH EMERGING ATHLETE PROGRAM FOR 2022/23

The WA Emerging Athlete Program (WA EAP) is a state-based development program to provide pathway progression for able bodied and para- athletes between junior and senior athletics within Western Australia. Six of WA's best to take on the world in Eugene

​​​​​​​Australia’s best track and field athletes have been named to compete at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in just 7 days’ time. The Championships will be held in Oregon, Eugene, with a strong team of 64 athletes. Six of these athletes have been named from WA.

2022 TARGET TALENT PROGRAM SQUAD ANNOUNCED

Athletics West is delighted to announce that 38 of WA's best athletes have been selected for the Target Talent Program in 2022. The Athletics Australia-funded program aims to foster and develop the next generation of Olympic and Paralympic representatives. 

11 WA ATHLETES BOUND FOR BIRMINGHAM

The final Australian Commonwealth Games Athletics team has been confirmed with a significant boost in athletes taking the total team to 85 competitors bound for Birmingham. Amongst the new selections are three West Australians including Tokyo 2020 Olympic Race Walker Declan Tingay, middle distance star Matthew Ramsden and 2018 Commonwealth Games athlete Angus Armstrong.

WA ATHLETES SHINE IN MACKAY

21 of WA’s best athletes represented the country at the 2022 Oceania Athletics Championships in Mackay, Queensland. Headlining Australia's team were 2022 Commonwealth Games athletes and hopefuls including Oceania Record Holder Sarah Edmiston, Angus Armstrong, Cruz Hogan, Ella Pardy and Rhiannon Clarke.
