PATHWAYS ADVISORY COMMITTEE - APPLICATIONS OPEN

Athletics West currently has two competition advisory groups in place that act as sounding boards for the formerly known Little Athletics WA and Athletics WA organisations. Moving forward to the 2021-22 Season, we are seeking to establish one advisory committee for the whole sport – The Pathways Advisory Committee.

A historic night at the Sydney Olympic Park has seen athletes from around the country claim world and national records, Tokyo 2021 qualifiers, and the 2021 5000m National titles. WA's very own Nina Kennedy and Matthew Ramsden capped off the evening with two outstanding performances.

GRANDSTAND CLOSURE FOR THE 2021 WA LITTLE ATHLETICS STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Grandstand at the WA Athletics Stadium will be closed at WA Little Athletics State Track and Field Championships presented by Go for 2&5. However, we will be making some changes to improve accessibility both outside of the stadium in the pavilion area and within the stadium.

The pinnacle of the Go For 2&5 Track and Field Season is here with the WA State Track and Field Championships set for this weekend. The three-day Championships will see more than 500 athletes strive for a 2021 State Title at the WA Athletics Stadium.

Coles Little Athletics Australia, in conjunction with the Little Athletics Member Associations have announced the cancellation of the 2021 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC). Athletics West will still announce a 2021 ALAC State Team following the WA Little Athletics State Championships.

UPDATE ON THE 2020-21 GO FOR 2&5 TRACK AND FIELD CALENDAR

We are pleased to announce, pending confirmation of zero new community cases before 12:01 am 14 February 2021, we will host an additional Go For 2&5 Competition on the morning of Sunday the 14th of February. We are working closely with Venues West, as well as State Government, to ensure the event will be in compliance with all venue, state and local government requirements.

ELITE POLE VAULTERS SET TO SOAR IN BUNBURY AT THE WA COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

This weekend will see the 2021 WA Country Championships contested at the Bunbury Regional Athletics Arena, with the support of the City of Bunbury and the Bunbury Little Athletics Centre. The event will also play host to the inaugural regional Go for 2&5 competition, headlined by a class field in the Pole Vault through the support of the Western Australian Institute of Sport Pole Vault program.

STATEMENT ON COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS - GRANDSTAND CLOSURE

2020 has been a year unlike any other. The WA Government has taken a cautious yet careful approach to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. This approach has enabled us all to transition back to our everyday life with minimal impact and restrictions. We are in a fortunate position compared to other States, and more so when compared to conditions seen around the world.

The WA Little Athletics Combined Event Championships presented by Go for 2&5 incorporated the traditional Little Athletics program alongside a senior event offering, delivering personal bests, championship titles and plenty of good sportsmanship on display amongst our competitors.
