2022 COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS SET FOR KALGOORLIE

Athletics West is pleased to announce the 2022 Country Athletics Championships are set for Oasis Playing Field in Kalgoorlie from the 14 to 16 of January 2022. The Championships will see athletes of all ages given a chance to compete with the event expected to attract approximately 350 athletes, all vying for top honours and an opportunity to achieve new personal bests.

KIDS MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS IN THE CLASSROOM & ON THE TRACK

Last week was Mental Health Week and this year’s theme was 'mental health starts with our children', an important message that we are asking our community to champion. This year's theme reinforces how critical the early years are for lifelong brain development and functioning, learning, and wellbeing. Whether in the classroom, at home or at your local Little Athletics Centre, focusing on fundamental skills is paramount to developing healthy lives.

ARE YOU READY TO WEAR IT PURPLE THIS OCTOBER?

Athletics West is excited to announce the ‘Wear it Purple’ round is back this October with WA’s Little Athletics Centres helping raise funds for the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation. Running from the 16 October to the 30 October, WA’s Little Athletics Centres will run individual fundraisers and champion the partnership in unique ways to help engage the community.

LITTLE ATHLETICS AUSTRALIA AND ATHLETICS AUSTRALIA PROPOSED UNIFICATION

In early December 2021, the National bodies of Little Athletics Australia (LAA) and Athletics Australia (AA) will present a motion to the Member Associations (the States) at respective Special Meetings (SGMs) for the unification to a single national body; Australian Athletics. 2021-22 SUMMER SEASON UPDATE

Venues West have today announced that the WA Athletics Stadium's track replacement has been postponed due to scheduling constraints. As a result, Athletics West will deliver the 2021-22 Summer Season powered by Go For 2&5 at the WA Athletics Stadium.

​​​​​​​Goal setting is central to success on and off the track. Whether you are a Little Athlete or an Australian representative, practising goal setting is integral. It acts as a road map that identifies a destination and, more importantly, the steps needed to achieve the goal.

AUSTRALIAN ATHLETES SET FOR THE OUTBACK

Partnering with the Australian Institute of Sport, Australian Athletes and Garnduwa, Athletics West is set to engage the WA’s North West Aboriginal, CaLD and regional communities as part of the North West Athletics Championships. Athletics West will work with the AIS’s Share a Yarn initiative and Share a Yarn Ambassador Brad Scott to deliver the 2021 North West Athletics Championships’ community events.

Declan Tingay will make his Olympic debut in Tokyo in the 20km Race Walk, joining a long and illustrious group of Australian Walkers.
