NORTH WEST CHAMPIONSHIPS BOUND FOR BROOME IN 2022

Athletics West is pleased to announce the North West Athletics Championships will return to Broome from 9 to 11 September 2022. The Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre, home of the Broome Little Athletics Centre, will once again host the Championships following a triumph 2020 and 2021 Championships.

The Championships are expected to attract more than 200 junior, senior and master's participants, from 5 to 100 years of age, all vying for top honours and an opportunity to achieve their own personal best results.

“The 2021 event saw a large increase in participation, reaffirming the growing footprint of the sport in WA’s North West footprint. We are committed to furthering that legacy in 2022 and developing the community’s passion for athletics by providing more opportunities for athletes to compete.” said Athletics West CEO Vince Del Prete.

Broome Little Athletics Centre will host the North West Athletics Championships and are “extremely excited to host in 2022.”

“We enjoy the possibilities of allowing all athletes from all ages and remote areas to participate in Athletics and have their moment to shine. The North West Athletics Championships opens the door to so many opportunities, self-belief and inclusion.” said Broome Little Athletics Centre’s Kathleen Thompson.

WA’s best country and regional athletes will be able to enjoy all the Shire of Broome has to offer and will draw visitors from across the State including Exmouth, Port Hedland, Karratha, Northam, Kalgoorlie and many more.
