North West Athletics Championships

Athletics West is pleased to announce the North West Athletics Championships will be heading to Karratha this September!

The 2023 North West Athletics Championships are set for September 16th and 17th of September at Frank Butler Community Centre with community events running from the 6th to the 9th of September through the North West area.


 

Championship Information

The 2023 WA North West Athletics Championships will be held on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th of September 2023 at the Frank Butler Community Centre. This year the North West Athletics Championships offers opportunities from 5 to 100 years of age with several Open Age Championship events, including the 100m, 400m, 800, Long Jump and Shot Put. Athletes aged 14 years and over can register to compete through the registration portal. The top three placegetters will be awarded medals. Join us for an exciting FREE community event to kick off the 2023 North West Athletics Championships on Friday 15th September a tthe Frank Butler Community Centre. Athletics West will be hosting a range of athletics activations to have a go at, including athlete and coach clinics, officiating up-skilling sessions, and a free sausage sizzle for all attendees. Athletics West will also be bringing up special guests to host the clinics and meet & greet including:

  • Kyle Ennis, First Nations Coordinator - Boasting an impressive personal best of 10.37 in the 100m and 20.88 in the 200m, Kyle is the current WA State Champion in the 200m and has represented Great Britain at the elite level before moving to Australia. As the First Nations Co-Ordinator Ennis works throughout regional WA delivering athletics and helping develop the next generations of Australian representatives.
  • Cruz Hogan, Australian World Championship Representative - A 2022 Oregon World Athletics Championship representative, Hogan is one of Australia’s top Javelin throwers and boasts an impressive best of 79.25m. With three open National medals to his name, Hogan has worked hard throughout his career from West Australian Junior Athlete to Oceania Champion in 2022.
  • Olivia Gross, Australian Pole Vaulter - Claiming her first open National medal in 2023, Olivia Gross is an up-and-coming Australian pole vaulter. With multiple appearances on the Chemist Warehouse Athletics Australia Tour, Gross has impressed across the nation and will be on to watch as she looks to emulate the country’s golden pole vault history.
