The WA State Junior Track & Field Championships powered by Go For 2&5 will be contested on Friday 8th, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th March 2024.

This event is for Little Athletics members in the Under 9, Under 10, Under 11, Under 12 and Under 13 age groups.

UPDATE 10:30am 7/3: Please be aware that due to an unnoticed importing error, many seed times for the 800m and 1500m events did not come through, as such, athletes were seeded into the wrong heats. This has now been rectified and the start lists have been updated accordingly.

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

Volunteer Roster

Linked above is the final volunteer roster for this weekend's events. Please check the roster to confirm the time and position of your volunteer role. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time of your roster position at the Technical Information Centre (TIC) located near the 100m start line. Should you have any questions about volunteering, please ask the Technical Information Centre Manager or the Chief/Referee where you will be based. There are still plenty of volunteering positions available, if you have not already signed up, please report to the Technical Information Centre on the day of competition who can allocate you a role.

All parents/guardians of athletes are required to fill a minimum of one Volunteer Roster at the WA State Junior Track and Field Championships - this is compulsary for your child's participation. 

 

CENTRE REQUIREMENTS

Site Marquees Map

We ask that each Centre bring their Coles and Go for 2&5 marquee as per the attached map, to provide enough shade for athletes, officials and volunteers throughout the competition. If your Coles/Go For 2&5 marquee is damaged, please bring a plain marquee in it’s place. Marquees can be dropped at the stadium on Thursday afternoon (during the stadium opening hours 3:00pm - 7:00pm), and vehicle access into the stadium will be available on Friday between 10:00am - 5:00pm, or on Saturday morning prior to 7am.

 

CHECK IN / CALL ROOM 

There will be a call room in operation. All athletes are required to report into the Call Room prior to each event/discipline.

Athletes are not required to Check In, however if you are not intending on competing in an event you have entered, please ensure you scratch/withdraw from the event by:
- Before the Championships - email admin@athleticswest.com.au with the athletes full name and event they wish to withdraw from
- During the Championships - visit the TIC tent at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled event or email tic@athleticswest.com.au.

 

EVENT CLASHES

Clash Form

In the event of a competitor entering two events which overlap in the program, the competitor must inform the official when reporting for the first event. It MAY be possible for the competitor to compete in the second event as well, however a trial (jump or throw) can only be held during its designated round. Track will always take precedence over field events.

Multi-Class Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, Long Jump, Discus, Shot Put, Javelin

Multi-Class athletes must have a State level classification to compete, but do not need to qualify by place or entry standard.

 

MAXIMUM EVENT ENTRIES

The maximum number of events athletes can enter are detailed below. If an athlete has qualified for more than the below quota, they must choose/prioritise which events to contest at the Championships.

Under 9 - Four (4) events
Under 10 - Five (5) events
Under 11 - Five (5) events
Under 12 - Five (5) events
Under 13 - Six (6) events

Registrations for this competition will be taken via ResultsHQ. Athletes can enter by achieving the entry standard for each event, by placing at the Zones Championships (event dependent), or by placing in the top-two (2) for events at the WA Country Championships. BIBS & UNIFORM

All athletes entered in the Championships must wear their approved Centre Uniform. No Club singlets will be allowed.

All athletes must wear their 2023/2024 Season Membership numbers and age group tags as outlined in the Little Athletics Rules of Competition. Little Athletics Athletes will have ONE (1) competition bib.

Athletes who are not wearing their official competition numbers will NOT be permitted to compete. Replacement numbers can be purchased from the TIC for $10.

 

IMPLEMENTS

Private Implements will not be accepted for inclusion at this event.

 

STATE TEAM PROGRESSION

Little Athletics Under 13 (Under 13-14 Multi-Class/Para Athletes) athletes wishing to be considered for selection to Australian Little Athletics Championships (Adelaide, 26-28 April) must nominate in advance to be considered for the team. Athletes must be registered with the Little Athletics Program to be considered for selection. In 2024, Athletics West can nominate 16 male and 16 female athletes to the Under 13 Team and as such, selection is generally based on building the strongest possible team to contest ALAC.

Parking Map

The above map shows the area that will be restrictecd to only Athletics West staff, Volunteer Officials, and VIP's. Parking attendants will be present for parts of each day to direct traffic and help you park. We recommend using the HBF Stadium parking Carpark 2 and Carpark 3 (southern end of the map).
